This week...

My mane got a big chop last night. It makes me a little sad.
My bangs look like they were cut by a right-y kindergartner...with left-y scissors. I am trying to make do. :)
All I keep hearing from people is 'they will grow out soon'.
Thanks.

Oh, and I got walked in on by my boss while taking pictures of my new do.  He laughed at me.  Charming guy he is. :)
On a more positive note...we are heading off to Sin City this weekend to meet up with some friends and family and we are so stinkin' excited!!
Nothing big on the agenda so far...we're crashing at Caesar's and plan to take advantage of the pool.
I am hoping to convince Rob to take me to Phantom, but I am not holding my breath. Apparently, if you've seen it once, there is no reason to go again. I think that's debatable.
Oh, and a Happy Birthday to my bestie (and new neighbor!!!) who turns twenty-something tomorrow!!

Breakfast & Bowling

I am just a week late in posting...not too bad, right?

Labor Day morning we all slept in a bit and then headed to Doug & Emmy's for breakfast and found out that they are closing down next month along with Sills. Those two places bring back memories of many a mornings I should have been at school, but was fillin' up there instead.

That evening we headed over to Spare Time in Syracuse for a night of bowling. I am hit and miss when it comes to bowling, but I actually scored over a 100 this time and Rob wasn't there to see it...so of course, I had to take a picture to prove it!

The trip was tons of fun, but went by way too quickly...as usual. A bunch of us are meeting up in Vegas next week, so there's more fun to be had shortly. Stay tuned.

Just a taste for now

I had tons of fun in Utah, just don't have time to post lots about it yet. Time away from home and work has resulted in piles and piles of stuff for me to catch up on. A few little highlights for now...pictures to come soon...maybe.

  • Game night!!!
  • Work outs with Jordan
  • Seeing UP at the Kaysville Theater with Mom and Alane
  • Steak house family dinner
  • Watching House on DVD with Ryan & Chase
  • Girls' afternoon with Mom and Mel
  • Final Destination in 3D - SO not good!!
  • Red Robin and Build a Bear with just me, Erika and Bailey
  • Finally going to Tai Pan
  • The magic, healing hands of Dr. Dad
  • Family breakfast at Doug & Emmy's
  • Afternoon chat and laughs with Grandma & Grandpa
  • Bowling at Sparetime...I broke 100!

Rob was missed. Really, really missed when

a.) He wasn't there to hold my luggage at the airport so I had to take it in to the bathroom with me...eewww!

b.) I had to third wheel it on Jordan & Anne's team during Cranium, then got ditched when they left half way through.

and

c.) Pretty much the entire rest of the time.

09.09.09

In honor of today's date, 09.09.09, I thought it would be fun for us to go and see the movie 9, but Rob said 'Nein'. Bummer.

Instead I downloaded from iTunes and started watching Season 3 of Ugly Betty while Rob entertained the dog...or vice versa. Yep, we're super cool.
Happy 09.09.09!
P.S. Did anyone actually see the movie? Was it any good?

Hooked

I’ve been doing the sick thing for the past week. A week of being sick, sounds crappy, right? Wrong. Believe it or not, it has actually almost been enjoyable. Not the sick part, but the staying home from work and watching Ugly Betty part.

I discovered Ugly Betty on day one of being sick and now it’s my new favorite show. I’ve been watching the DVDs so much I have started dreaming about being on the show. Sounds like I ought to cut it out, I know, but it’s so funny, I just can't stay away!

Now that I am back at work I just think that my job is boring compared to all the zaniness that is Betty's job. Sounds like I am jealous, which maybe I am just a little bit.

Weiner dog

Last week Rob called me from his Mom's house and told me to hurry over, he had a surprise for me. I was puzzled, but bored, so I drove on over. I was greeted by this darlin' little gal, Maggie.

Turns out she wasn't my surprise though. Rob's Mom bought Maggie for herself and the 'surprise' was that Rob was bringing Jackson home to live with us. Sure I was surprised, but not necessarily the good kind of surprised, but I thought I'd roll with it.

It's been quite the adjustment dealing with him at our house. I wasn't raised with pets and I think it's an understatement to say that I am not an animal person, but I am trying to stay positive about the little guy.

Over the weekend wandered down to the lake (which this blah cell phone picture doesn't do justice) to test him out around other animals and all was well. He didn't even chase the ducks that were wandering all around. I think he might be a sissy kind of dog, but don't tell Rob I said that. :)

The two love birds
There have been a couple of times over the past few days when we have been ready to send him back, but for now he is still around...we'll see how long it lasts!

Fishin'

Sunday morning we stopped by the airport to pick up Rob's little sister who was returning from a month in Brazil. We got to hear all about her amazing trip over lunch at...you guessed it...IHOP.

That afternoon Rob's brother talked us to go fishing 'city style' a.k.a. at a fish farm. In the beginning I was just an observer, but got into it towards the end and snagged a fishy of my own.

The place was completely shaded, so it made a nice place to sit and relax while catching your feel of fish.

This was supposedly a great bait for the fish. It's fish pellets ground up with a bit of flour and water. It looked quite the gross to me, but it did work, so I guess I don't really have a leg to stand on.

Rob kept catching fish and then unhooking them before I could get a picture of him with it. He caught a really big fish and was giving me a pose when it flipped off it's hook and back into the water. I was a little slow with the camera, so it was that little guy's lucky day!

I tried to get a good shot of my fish, but it was splashing around too much for me to get in there really well. Don't know how it happened, but I hooked him in the belly instead of in the mouth. It was really weird, but I felt a little bad for him. I'm told this sappiness doesn't make for a good fisher.
After an hour or so we ended up with nine to take home. It was pretty neat to watch them get cleaned. A little on the gross side, but still pretty neat.
Marc was excited to cook them all up tasty for us, but we passed on it. It was strange enough to go from catching them to seeing them being cleaned. Not ready to move onto the eating part of that cycle just yet.
Pretty soon they are getting some salmon in...maybe we'll catch some and cook 'em up then.

One last stop over at Rob's Mom's place so he could hang out with her dog, Jackson, who happens to be Rob's new best friend. Rob is convinced that Jackson is going to be joining our family soon, I am just not sure of it yet. He really is a cute little dog, but I am good with just Sox...for now.

21 on the pier

Saturday night we headed over to Carillon Point in Kirkland to watch the weekly outdoor movie.
There are several places in the area that host outdoor movies during the summer so there is always something good playing at one of them.
After the super hot days we have been having lately, the weather cooperated wonderfully and it was a perfect evening to spend down by the water.

The movie was 21. Neither of us had seen it before, but had heard OK things about it. It really got us in the mood to head to Vegas.
Not like we could count cards or anything, but it made us wish we could. :)

We brought our comfy little camping chairs, but we got there early enough to score this great bench for our seats.
BluWater Bistro was in the same pavilion, so we grabbed some of their crab legs and pizza for dinner then used our camping chairs as tables/TV trays.

It was quite the great set up!
The movie ended up being only so-so and incredibly predictable, but we had a fun time.
They are showing Twilight in a couple weeks and I am working on getting Rob to go. Good luck, I know.

Rolling in it

Q: How do you know when you have reached total loserdom?
A:
When you get excited that you've finally got over $200K in the bank on Farm Town.
Not that I would know or anything...
Oh, who am I kidding!?!
I am a Farm Town addict and I love it. Yes, it has made me a big ol' dork of a farmer, but I am a RICH farmer...so there!
Playing online games is SO not my bag, but I am really digging the farmer scene.
Rob makes fun of me, but I sense it's just jealousy. :)
I cringe a little when I find myself planning parts of my day around making time to farm...this is when you know it's time to take a step back. I'm sure I'll grow bored with it soon, but until then...I'm off to plant some onions...

We're Melting

It is hot up here.
Like 100* hot.
I know this doesn't sound that bad to a lot of you, but up here in the Pacific Northwest central air or even air conditioning isn't standard for most residences. So yes, it is stinking HOT!!
Last night as Rob and I laid on the floor downstairs with three fans blowing on us we realized we'd be much better off to
a.) be sitting in a cool movie theater
b.) drive around in the car with the air on high
c.) be anywhere but where we were

Since we've seen nearly every movie in the theaters we decided it best to put on our shorts and tanks and head over to Alki Beach.

It was SO much cooler by the water! We took a nice stroll and then had an amazing dinner at Cactus. It used to be a grocery store that was recently transformed into this funky Tex Mex restaurant.

We had a great table *bonus point* that gave us a perfect view of the beach *another bonus point*. Since it was our first time there they gave us some yummy appetizers on the house *that deserves two more bonus points* and the dinner was delish *yep, another bonus point*, so all in all, looks like Cactus has made it was into our regular rotation of restaurants.

We decided to head back home around 9:30, certain that our place would have cooled down to a much more tolerable temperature by then. We walked in the door and felt like we were hit by a heatwave. Ugh!

I've already decided that I will be putting in some time at the mall and then catching a movie after work today so that I don't have to endure any more time that necessary at our residence, which appears to have relocated to the Sun.
