Opening Day

Yesterday was opening day at Safeco Field, Mariners v. A's and I was not there.

Nope, Rob and his brother Marc went (to celebrate Marc's BD!) and left me at home to attend to my boring, yet oh-so-responsible life.

M's lost anyways. Maybe if I was there?? Better luck next time. ☺

I FINALLY get it

On a nearly bi-weekly basis for the past eight plus years I have dragged Rob from store to store where I expect him to flip through racks of clothes with me, give his opinion, then critique each and every piece that I try on and carry it for me once it's been purchased. And get this...he says he doesn't really like it. Shocker, I know!

It's taken years for me to catch on, but last night it really sunk in: shopping isn't fun if you aren't the one doing the shopping.

I'd agreed to accompany Rob while he bought some new suits. It was fun for the first seven and a half minutes...maybe, but then I was done. There wasn't any girl clothing to look at, just suits and ties and shirts and dress shoes and cuff links. Boring! After what seemed like days (it was really just a couple of hours) Rob had selected his suits, gotten fitted for them and paid. I thought I was on the verge of death by boredom.

I now have a new appreciation for all the tolerance he shows when we I go shopping and rather than having to reciprocate, I think it's best that we just shop on our own from now on...for the most part, at least. :)

I should point out that it wasn't a total bust...I did get to see His Handsomeness is some mighty sharp suits, and he did buy me some earrings! Of course, in true Rob fashion, we ended the evening with breakfast-for-dinner at IHOP.

Grossest thing EVER!

I stopped by Petco yesterday to look at a heated tank for my fish. As I headed down the main aisle my eyes caught sight of the most disturbing of all disturbing sights (as far as pet shops go). There was an entire rack full of animal themed calendars. But wait, that's not the bad part. Right front and center was a calendar of...R-A-T-S...yes, Rats! I barely glimpsed at it and felt a shudder run through my body. I had to fight back the urge run out crying (or convulsing). Who buys a calendar of rats!?! Rodents are my biggest fear/disgustment/whatever-you-want-to-call-it. They absolutely unnerve me!
I am struggling just to type out these words, they get to me that bad. Needless to say, I didn't stick around and buy a tank (what a wuss, I know) for my little guy. That will have to be another trip...maybe I can get Rob to do it?? I will never again enter a pet store without this awful memory resurfacing. I know this sounds overly dramatic, but that is just how big of a baby I am...and I am not going to work on it. :)
This post has gotten to be too much for me. I had better go and lie down.

$$ Impulse buying $$

I just purchased an airline ticket to Utah tomorrow to see my family and I am so excited. I haven't been back since April. I have two cute nieces there that I just don't get to see enough, and of course the rest of my family, as well. We are all heading camping so I will definitely have some cute pictures to post when I return.

I am sad that Rob won't be going with me. While I was at work I tried to call him to see if he wanted to come but he was in a meeting and didn't answer, so I just bought a ticket for me - see...impulsive! I don't know why, but I just couldn't wait a few hours to hear back from him. Since he isn't really into camping I figured that he wouldn't want to go anyways. He also just started a LSAT prep course and would have to miss it if he came to Utah. I baked him a cake to make it up to him...not sure if that clears me or not...we'll see. Rob gets along great with my family and really likes to play with my nieces. In fact, he is usually the one that initiates the trips down to Utah, not me. Only he doesn't call it Utah, he calls it The Tah. I think he's funny! :)

Hancock...it was OK.

Last night Rob's little sister Stephanie and their cousin Crystal stayed over. We went and saw the movie Hancock. I heard that it was kind of a bust, but with the limited number of movies playing that were appropriate for the girls, this was our choice. Luckily, we all liked it.
Our day so far has consisted of sleeping in late and lounging around all morning, Rob and girls playing video games, Janalyn playing around on the computer (supposedly doing homework), and then hitting the pool and the gym. I know, what an exhausting day! :) I am beat...I had better take a nap while Rob drives the girls back home.
