What to do?

School is out. For EVER the quarter.
I've got a week and half to waste...relax...do something with until I am back in school four nights a week for ten weeks. Again.
All this free time and I've got nothing exciting planned out...but I am working on it.
I am determined to:
  • not let this time off waste away
  • not have sitting around catching up on all the episodes of LOST, Grey's Anatomy and 30 Rock that I've missed be the most exciting thing that I do
  • dig my bike out of the garage and spend some time with it on one of the many trails by our house
  • not freak out about turning 29 next week
  • get in some quality time with The Robster
  • hit a bucket or two of balls at the driving range
  • finally drop off all those boxes marked GOODWILL that have been taking up space in our garage for the past year and a half

If I even get two of these crossed off my list, I will be happy! I know, I know...I am such an under overachiever.

Away we go

Tonight we are going to endure the drive down to Portland, yet again.
Well, Rob will endure the drive...I will be the amusing passenger and instigator of The Name Game.
We plan to have three days full of sleeping in, golfing, a baseball game, fireworks, a blues festival, shopping and perhaps a rodeo or two.
We are quite looking forward to the time away because after all, Portland is the Paris of North America. Fun, I know, but don't be jealous. We'll take some pictures and share it all upon our return. Have a fun and save 4th!!

Wanna buy a house?

Yesterday we attended a fabulous Modern Homes Tour that consisted of five homes through the Seattle area. I brought my camera so that I could snap a few pictures, but never got aroudn to pulling it out of my bag. Check out their site, they have some great shots. While they were all amazing homes, modern architecture is not the direction I would like to go. Rob on the other hand was ready to hop on board. He really liked the minimalist look they used in their decorating. Me, I am a huge shopper/junk collector/hoarder and am anti-minimalist. I need a house with plenty of room for displaying and storage! We are still working on finding something that suits both of us. At two of the locations they had putting greens. Each person who could sink a hole in one scored a Starbucks gift card. Putting extraordinaire Rob snagged us two gift cards and I managed to get one myself.

We spent a few hours on the tour, visited his Auntie in the hospital and stopped by Bellevue Square for some Red Mango before heading home. I am still feeling yucky and was exhausted. I was in bed by 9:00!

Our oh-so-hot Friday night date

Early Friday evening we set out for a leisurely game of golf. The temperature was great...not too hot, but still warm and sunny. Here is Rob prepping for a shot - Dr. Pepper, the true sports drink of champions! I wonder if they need a spokesperson...

Now, his is my kind of golf...hanging out in the golf cart. Sometimes I get a little too carried away in my driving and turn part off-roader. I am such a wild one! I told Rob that I might take some golf lessons and actually get serious about the sport. He'd better watch out...I could become really great!

This is one thing that I don't like about evening golfing...the bugs! I don't know why, but the mosquitoes just LOVE me. I got these two huge mosquito bites and couldn't keep from itching them for the rest of the game. Not a very flattering angle...oh well, you get the gist of it.

Rob got challenged by some 13 year old kid that was playing with his Dad and decided that he had better get serious about it. This was his only serious stance during the entire course. He kind of looks like he knows what he is doing. He wanted to get a game in before a work sponsored golf tournament he is in tomorrow. For someone that hasn't been golfing for long, he is getting pretty good.

Next stop, the PGA

For some time Rob has been saying that he would like to take up golfing, so for his birthday I got him a month's worth of golf lessons. His last lesson is tomorrow and then he is ready to take on Tyler!
On top of his weekly lesson he tries to visit the driving range a couple of times a week. Luckily we have a few nearby. Tonight he talked me into coming with him...something about spending quality time together. I think he just wanted an audience so he could show off his newly acquired talent!

I am trying to get him to wear some of the typical plaid golfing attire, but he isn't having any of it! Those would be some great pictures!

Although he goofs off a bit for the camera I can tell that he is taking this seriously. He stops to watch other golfers and combines what he sees with what he learns in his lessons. He is quite a power hitter too! I told him that next time I would hit a couple as well. I need a few days to psych myself up! :)
