Olympics, two tickets please

With the 2010 Winter Olympics being so close to us (Vancouver, BC), we thought we just HAD to go! Only problem...we got this idea a few years after the rest of the world. Way to go, I know!
By the time I got around to buying tickets, all the exciting events were sold out. I really wanted to see the figure skating, and Rob wanted to see anything that he didn't have to stand outside in the cold to see.

Skating (figure and speed) sold out long ago, but we were lucky enough to get some hockey tickets. I was a bit put off by the price of the tickets, but Rob reminded me that it's not going to be just any old hockey game, it's the Olympics and that is one more thing we can check off our list of 'cool things to do before we die'. True.
After hours of time online and on the phone with their customer support I finally got our tickets purchase and am really looking forward to going!
Go USA!!
Oh, wait...we're seeing Germany and Belarus...not sure who we'll be cheering for yet.

This week...

My mane got a big chop last night. It makes me a little sad.
My bangs look like they were cut by a right-y kindergartner...with left-y scissors. I am trying to make do. :)
All I keep hearing from people is 'they will grow out soon'.
Thanks.

Oh, and I got walked in on by my boss while taking pictures of my new do.  He laughed at me.  Charming guy he is. :)
On a more positive note...we are heading off to Sin City this weekend to meet up with some friends and family and we are so stinkin' excited!!
Nothing big on the agenda so far...we're crashing at Caesar's and plan to take advantage of the pool.
I am hoping to convince Rob to take me to Phantom, but I am not holding my breath. Apparently, if you've seen it once, there is no reason to go again. I think that's debatable.
Oh, and a Happy Birthday to my bestie (and new neighbor!!!) who turns twenty-something tomorrow!!

Rolling in it

Q: How do you know when you have reached total loserdom?
A:
When you get excited that you've finally got over $200K in the bank on Farm Town.
Not that I would know or anything...
Oh, who am I kidding!?!
I am a Farm Town addict and I love it. Yes, it has made me a big ol' dork of a farmer, but I am a RICH farmer...so there!
Playing online games is SO not my bag, but I am really digging the farmer scene.
Rob makes fun of me, but I sense it's just jealousy. :)
I cringe a little when I find myself planning parts of my day around making time to farm...this is when you know it's time to take a step back. I'm sure I'll grow bored with it soon, but until then...I'm off to plant some onions...

A little of this and a little of that...

Chopped a bunch of my hair off. Still not sure if it's a like or hate thing yet...more time needed to decide.
Sunglasses in (blurry camera phone) picture = I still haven't put my makeup on yet. That's right, I put my make up on at work.
It's here at last! Harry Potter is today, and yes...I am still going by myself because I am a loser awesome. Don't hate.
We're hopping a flight down to Utah tonight for a family camping extravaganza. It should be exciting. Stay tuned...

My car has a mind of it's own

Yesterday I couldn't get my sunroof to close. No matter what I tried it would not stay closed! So knowing that the sun could turn to rain in a matter of minutes I knew I had to get it taken care of ASAP unless I wanted rain soaked interior. I left work and drove the 30 miles down to the dealership, all the while still trying to get the stupid sunroof to shut. Eventually I just gave up!

(Not actually my car, but you get the point...)

As I pulled up to the service department I automatically went through my normal getting out routine: turned in my mirrors, put my iPod in glove box, grabbed my purse and closed the sunroof. And what do you know...the stupid thing shut!!!

I was in disbelief so I opened it up and closed it again. Yep, it worked just fine! I felt pretty stupid going inside and telling them that my urgent appointment was no longer required. Turns out my breaks needed replacing and I was due for an oil change anyways, so my trip wasn't a total waste. Plus, I got to skip out from work a few hours early. Maybe that was the Sun God's way of giving me a few hours off?? Hey, I'll take it!!

The Snooper

As I was browsing the MSN homepage my eye stopped on this picture and the caption next to it

BEST PLACES TO SNOOP ON CO-WORKERS

It just so happens that I have the biggest snoop of a co-worker in my very own office. I will here on out refer to that person as Snoopy. I am intrigued by the site of this photo and decided to see if MSN's version of a snoop has any similarities with my nosy office mate. The name of their article is Best Places to Eavesdrop. As I am reading this, I think that it must have been written by Snoopy, only in his/her amateur days. Some points in this article mirror the exact tactics Snoopy used in his/her early days of employment with us. He/she has since graduated to much more advanced practices...only he/she attempts to disguise his/her nosiness as concern. It's the worst!!

As coincidence would have it, just as I am reading this article Snoopy sneakily, silently enters my office...looking at my computer screen the whole time, which he/she does quite often. My office is a big square with a corner desk, so my back is to the door and my computer screen is open for anyone behind me to see. I usually keep my door half open, so this provides a little bit of privacy. Not that I should need it because I am an incredibly dedicated employee who never uses the internet for anything other than work. This is clearly evident as I am blogging at work. :) Yeah, that is a whole different story. Anyway, I notice Snoopy is there, and swing around in my chair and ask him/her what he/she wants. Snoopy, holding a file I had earlier asked for, has the nerve to comment with a chuckle on the article I was reading. Word for word, this is exactly what Snoopy said to me

"Some people have no sense of others' privacy. Luckily we don't have a problem with that in our office."

I stare back at him/her with a blank look for about five seconds. That is actually a long time to stare with no speaking! I then give a slight roll my eyes, grab the file, curtly thank him/her for the file and swivel back around in my chair. Ugh, I so wish I had an office where the desk faced the door instead of away from it! Oh, and maybe a different co-worker...is that too negative of me??? :)

Doing a little shopping

I am sitting here at work doing what I do best...browse/shop online. I found the funniest/weirdest online store, Fred Flare. Aren't these umbrellas the cutest!?

There is even a redhead...wearing my favorite color, green!

I put her in my shopping cart, but am now hesitating. I think that this might be too little girlie for me to use, even though it's so cute. And it's not like I don't have a million umbrellas already. But, I don't have a green one. Hmmm.

My sleeper mask is in need of replacing, so this one is a necessity. I wonder how Rob will like looking at this in bed everyday. I think it's funny!! Long live Napoleon Dynamite. :)

Midnight Sun

I would first like to apologize to all of those that I judged (only slightly) when they told me they were addicted to the Twilight Sage. Vampires, come on!?! :) Thanks to all of the peer pressure, and Molly for lending me all of the books, I now am too a follower. I am almost finished with Breaking Dawn. I have about a fifth left, but I am not finding it very interesting. Maybe it's just the deep denial I am feeling about the series ending...I just don't want to admit it's over?? Yesterday I stumbled onto the greatest thing ever...Midnight Sun. It's supposed to be Twilight told by Edward's point of view instead of Bella's. Stephanie Meyers has 12 chapters of it published on her website. Apparently it is a partial draft that was leaked and posted all over the internet. Due to the breach she is unsure of if she will finish the book or not...I hope she does! I have spent more time than I care to admit reading it at work. It is great to see Twilight through Edward's eyes. Any Twilight fan has got to read this. You can legally read it here for FREE. Enjoy!!

My new office companion

Lately work has been a drag. Part of this has to do with the lack of exciting people in my office. The only co-worker that I really like, as in I would associate with them outside of the office, has been gone for awhile. With so few prospects of a work buddy, I just decided to buy one. Does that make me sound pathetic? Anyways, here is my new buddy...

As I was searching for my new buddy at Petco during my lunch hour, I was looking for a gilled gal with a little flair. When I saw this dear, I thought that 'she' was destined to be named Roxie and live in my office. When I got back to my office and set up camp (a vase with marbles in the bottom) I was told (but not quite convinced) that my sweet Roxie was in fact a he. Now, who has ever heard of a he named Roxie? Not I. Do I change he/she's name, or simply stick with the name Roxie? Remember the movie Bug's Life where there is that ladybug that is a male and gets upset that everyone assumes he is a female just because he is a ladybug? Well I don't want my dear betta fish to go through life feeling that way. I don't know if I should find a new unisex name (sidenote: remember Pat from SNL? Ha, ha!) or change to a more masculine name all together. Oh, the stress! Maybe Petco should not put their male bettas in pink lidded containers and this whole misunderstanding would have never happened to begin with!!

Am I an addict??

I am slowly coming to the realization that I may have a slightly addictive personality. Why is that, you say? Well when I finally joined the Blogger World I spent a ridiculous amount of time clicking from page to page trying to find out what everyone was up to and coming across old friends. It was great! But a few days in I realized that I was spending hours, yes literally hours a day doing this. This was made worse by the fact that I was skipping actual homework to do cruise people's blogs...which by the way resulted in my first C since I began school (technically it was a C+, but that still doesn't really make me feel any better). I finally got a grip on myself (or rather I read all that there was to read) and took a step back from my blog stalking. Right when I am getting back on track, I sign up for Facebook. At first I did it just so that I could see another friend's pictures they posted. Then I thought I should add a picture of my own, but that's it. Next thing I know I started to get all of these friend requests from people who found me through the search feature. I never really had any intentions of getting into Facebook but I reasoned that it would be rude not to accept an invitation, right? It all snowballed from there. I got my first piece of flair (thanks Molly!) and became incredibly amused by all of the flair options there are. I would flip through the pages just laughing at some of them and next thing I knew, I had been doing it for an hour! I really thought I had it under control until someone sent me an invitation to an Alias trivia game. I tried it out and of course quickly rose to Ace level. I then find out that they have trivia for Friends, Sex and the City and The Sopranos. Ever since then I have been answering trivia for my favorite TV shows and feeling completely fulfilled in doing so. Addictive much? Yes, I think so! So instead of showing up at work and earning the paycheck they give me, I am holed up in my office playing the Alias trivia game on Facebook and feeling absolutely (well almost absolutely) no shame about it. I barely switch from the screen when someone walks into my office! I think that I need an intervention, but not until tomorrow...I am only 270 points away from the next level! :) Oh how pathetic!!

I am so MAD at myself!

On a whim I thought that I would change the background of the blog and in the process I lost all of my stuff along the sidebar! I don't care so much about all of the little widget things because those are easy to fix, but I lost all of my links to everyone elses blogs! I think that I can remember everyone that I had on there and can find their info somewhere, but for anyone who really knows me will verify this...my memory is crap! I hope that I can remember to put everyone's links back up. If I have forgotten to put your link up, please remind me!!
Serves me right for messing around with my blog when I should be working!
