Jackson hates, Hates, HATES being dropped off at the sitter when we leave town. I just can't stand to have him upset with me so I bribed him with his favorite treat, McDonald's white meat (cuz I'm a good mama) chicken McNuggets. Now he's is such a McNugget haze he'll forget to feel abandoned and I'm in the clear. I'll just have to deal with Rob's teasing me about treating our pup like our kid. I don't care, it's SO worth it.

Never thought I'd see the day
Ever since being a pet owner I swore that I would never be one of those people who treats their pets like they are their kids by dressing them up and taking pictures of them.
Well, it looks like I might be veering a little in that direction. And I don't like it. Not at all. But my friend tells me that it's happening, so I just need to embrace it. While at Target I got talked into buying this pumpkin shirt for Jackson. At $5 I thought 'Why not? It'd be good for a laugh.'
Turns out Jackson loves it and doesn't like it when we try to take it off him. Total goober! Then as I was walking him the other afternoon, I thought it would be cute (ugh, I know!) to take a picture of him in the pretty fall leaves.
At this rate, we'll be doing holiday photos with our pets wearing Santa hats. Don't worry, I won't let it go that far. I've got to put a stop to all this nonsense!! ☺ Wednesday, July 29, 2009
Rolling in it
Q: How do you know when you have reached total loserdom?A: When you get excited that you've finally got over $200K in the bank on Farm Town.
Not that I would know or anything...
Oh, who am I kidding!?!
I am a Farm Town addict and I love it. Yes, it has made me a big ol' dork of a farmer, but I am a RICH farmer...so there!
Playing online games is SO not my bag, but I am really digging the farmer scene.
Rob makes fun of me, but I sense it's just jealousy. :)
I cringe a little when I find myself planning parts of my day around making time to farm...this is when you know it's time to take a step back. I'm sure I'll grow bored with it soon, but until then...I'm off to plant some onions...

Because I am just THAT cool
I just bought myself a ticket to see Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince on opening day. This also happens to be the same day we fly down to Utah. Did this deter me? No. I'm going to the early show and then flying out later that evening.
The part that makes me feel super pathetic cool is...I am going all by myself. I could not find a single friend who wanted to skip out of work early that day and go with me. Not even Rob. How's that for loyalty. And I really don't want to do the logical, grown up thing and wait a week until we're back from Utah to see it.
So, yes I am a super cool twenty-something who is leaving work early to go and see the new Harry Potter movie on opening day with a bunch of screaming tweens and I am proud of it. At least I'm not wearing a cloak and carrying a wand. I do have standards.

'To do' really means 'I'm not doing it'
I've had the exact same to do list for months...and have yet to cross a single thing off of it! Here's a little taste: - Clean out my car - my trunk is so full, I can barely fit my bags in when I go to the grocery store.
- Drop off bags at Goodwill - there is about a five or six square foot patch of garage that is taken up by stuff I keep meaning to take to Goodwill (which I pass three times a week!), but I just can't bring myself to load it up...which also goes back to my last task...I don't have room for it anyways. The pile is growing too...pretty soon Rob won't be able to fit into the garage!
- Clean out the fireplace. It's still full of ashes. And not ashes from logs...it burned my old bills instead of shredding them. I thought it was a great idea, but turns out it made a HUGE mess. Rob was not happy!
I am hoping to use this long weekend to tackle a task or two, but I will most likely keep up my streak. I'd be better off paying someone else to do it...that's the only way it will happen. So, who wants to make $20?

Yes, my pants are on fire
Yeah, I lied a little...so what. I know I said that we were going to make our blog private and then I never did. It wasn't an intentional lie, it was pure laziness on my part. I really just forgot all about it. I haven't posted anything really personal anyways, so unless I decide to do so the blog will stay open. But be forewarned...I am known to change my mind on a whim, so one day I just may feel like making in private. :) Sorry I cried wolf; it won't happen again. Well not intentionally that is.

Mysterious disappearance
In response to all of the emails I have been receiving lately: No, I have not fallen off the face of the earth. I am still around, but I have lost my mojo...blog mojo that is. Work, school, sick, lazy- you name it, I got it and it's all keeping me from blogging. I am trying to get back on the horse, but it may be gradual. Stay tuned... :)

Grossest thing EVER!
I stopped by Petco yesterday to look at a heated tank for my fish. As I headed down the main aisle my eyes caught sight of the most disturbing of all disturbing sights (as far as pet shops go). There was an entire rack full of animal themed calendars. But wait, that's not the bad part. Right front and center was a calendar of...R-A-T-S...yes, Rats! I barely glimpsed at it and felt a shudder run through my body. I had to fight back the urge run out crying (or convulsing). Who buys a calendar of rats!?! Rodents are my biggest fear/disgustment/whatever-you-want-to-call-it. They absolutely unnerve me! I am struggling just to type out these words, they get to me that bad. Needless to say, I didn't stick around and buy a tank (what a wuss, I know) for my little guy. That will have to be another trip...maybe I can get Rob to do it?? I will never again enter a pet store without this awful memory resurfacing. I know this sounds overly dramatic, but that is just how big of a baby I am...and I am not going to work on it. :) This post has gotten to be too much for me. I had better go and lie down.

It's a REAL sickness
I stayed home sick today, but I was having the hardest time resting. Probably because we spent almost our entire four day weekend lounging around. Although we did brave the mall for a few hours of shopping yesterday.
This morning I realized that I was really sick of sitting in bed and wanted to get up and do something. Then it hit me...we have so much crap that we do not need. I started pulling clothes out of closets, books off of shelves, empty unused picture frames out of the garage and stacking it all into bags and boxes to drop off at Goodwill. After the big rush died down a little bit, I noticed that I had not packed up as much stuff as I thought I would have. Turns out I have a hard time parting with things, even if I have not used it for years (and probably wouldn't use for a few more!). I really should get rid of that stuff, right?
So my first stop of round two was the storage bins under the beds...my purses! It was actually pretty exciting to go through them because I had forgotten that I had some of them and was looking forward to using them. Needless to say, I had gotten off track! It brought me back to a comment Rob made yesterday while I was searching for a new purse at Macys. How many purses do you REALLY need? I quickly dismissed his comment...what does he know about purses!?! Besides, I really don't have that many.
Or so I thought...
After counting, I was completely stunned to find out that I have thirty-eight...that's right - 38 purses! Now that doesn't even include laptop bags or travel totes! Well, he is right...I definitely don't need that many purses. But now the hard part is deciding which ones I don't absolutely have to have.
I then had a Carrie moment when I realized that the cost of all of these purses could have covered my student loans. No more purses for me. Well, not in the near future at least. :)
What a mess! I should have just stayed in bed and been sick.
