Why go to Yakima?

We spent the weekend in Yakima cheering on Rob's little sister Stephanie and her team at the State Dance & Drill Competition...in which they placed 2nd!!

Rob and Marc weren't too into it, but they managed to stick it out.

One of my favorite performances was a school that had a whole Wicked themed dance...it was really good! At the end they turned out the lights for a big glow in the dark parade. Rob's Mom and I were sporting glow sticks around our necks...it felt quite rave-like.

Yes, it was loads of fun, but after being surrounded by all those teens for the weekend, I now know why my Dad didn't like driving my girlfriends and I to the mall. Apparently all teen girls do is shriek and giggle. ☺

What to do?

School is out. For EVER the quarter.
I've got a week and half to waste...relax...do something with until I am back in school four nights a week for ten weeks. Again.
All this free time and I've got nothing exciting planned out...but I am working on it.
I am determined to:
  • not let this time off waste away
  • not have sitting around catching up on all the episodes of LOST, Grey's Anatomy and 30 Rock that I've missed be the most exciting thing that I do
  • dig my bike out of the garage and spend some time with it on one of the many trails by our house
  • not freak out about turning 29 next week
  • get in some quality time with The Robster
  • hit a bucket or two of balls at the driving range
  • finally drop off all those boxes marked GOODWILL that have been taking up space in our garage for the past year and a half

If I even get two of these crossed off my list, I will be happy! I know, I know...I am such an under overachiever.

Portland, take 867...or so

A drive down to Portland was how we spent our weekend.
Nothing too exciting...stayed at the same ol' place (which has the most amazingly comfortable beds!!), ate at Stanford's & PF Chang's (again), saw a movie - She's Out of My League (actually pretty funny!) and picked up some fun things for my niece & nephews at Powell's.
Always fun, but a little predictable.
I've decided that next time we head down that direction we are definitely going to do something different...just to mix it up.

Spa trumps Kennel

Next weekend we are going to have to board our pup for the first time, so I've started to search out a place to plop him for a couple days.
Now at first, I didn't think much of it, but after looking into it, I don't want to put him just anywhere.

I used to see those pet hotel and pet spa places and roll my eyes at the thought of the yuppies that think their pets need hotels and spas.
Well, what do ya know...turns out, we are those kind of people.
Ridiculous, I know. I blame Rob.

Green Goodness

I think we all know that I am no Martha in the kitchen, but I thought since I didn't have school tonight, I'd try to make an effort to celebrate St. Patty's Day a little.
Yep, spinach tortellini with green alfredo sauce, green buttered garlic bread, asparagus with green balsamic garlic sauce and green Gatorade.

Corny? Yep. But it was quite tasty if I do say so myself. I think Rob could have taken it or left it. The green sauce threw him off a bit. So there...don't say I can't be festive. ☺

Be nice.

As we were continuing our house hunt over the weekend one of the realtors made a comment about how we must be newlyweds.
I told him that we were going on 10 years together and asked him why he got newlyweds from us. His response really surprised me...he thought we were newlyweds 'because we are just so nice to each other' and that 'he doesn't see that too often when showing homes to couples'.
Surprising, isn't it!?! I figure it's easy to be nice to someone who you not only love but really like, right?
It was good to know that it's not just Rob who can tell how much I love him. Hope we don't ever become one of 'those' couples that guys is used to seeing!
Rob, I promise to always be nice to you. ☺

Handsome

I know that this video is on the long side, but it's absolutely, positively, definitely worth watching. Promise.

You can thank me later.

Upsize us

We're on a hunt. A house hunt.

We've decided that where we are at now is just too small and we are in desperate need for some more space. Our own wings, perhaps??

After being on the hunt for months, we still haven't laid eyes on our next home. We are so stuck in 'the now' that it's hard to make choices based on what will be important in the coming years...is this home in a good school district...are there parks nearby...etc, etc, etc.
We've found two homes that we both just love, but don't like the neighborhoods (Snoqualmie and Woodinville...eek, I know!!) and we know what neighborhood we like (Issaquah Highlands), but can't find any great homes there.
Keep your fingers crossed for us that something absolutely adorable will come on the market soon...

Cruisin'

Last night we boarded the Emerald Star for a Chef's Select Dinner Cruise around Lake Washington and Lake Union. It was quite the lovely site, but we hadn't quite mastered the settings on our camera...hence to super fuzzy blurred up pics...
I did finally manage to find the night landscape setting, but sadly by that time there was not much of a landscape to capture because the cruise was ending. Luckily Rob was still around and more than willing to pose for a pic or two...on the right setting. Handsome, isn't he. ☺

It wasn't the best of the dinner cruises we've been on (Argosy is!), but it was a great night weather-wise and we had loads of of fun together (naturally!) and that's all that matters, right?!

Snoqualmie to Sammamish

Yesterday was a bea-utiful day so we decided to grab our pup and head up to Snoqualmie Falls to do a little nature walk/day hiking. We got all the way up there to discover about a million and a half signs posted that said NO DOGS ALLOWED.
Great!

We drove all the way back home and scouted out a spot down by Lake Sammamish that seemed like a fun place to trek around. The boys were happy...Rob and Jackson had a great time...as you can tell...

I on the other hand, really need to practice my taking-pictures-of-myself-with-a-camera-phone skills.

There ya have it. Another completely relaxing and absolutely unproductive Sunday, courtesy of us. ☺
