...pardon the interruption...

After Blogger's breakdown last week, I was waiting for them to fix the cruise posts/comments that had already been written before I continued on, but I think this is as good as it's going to get.

If I wait any longer I will forget all the details...or what details I still remember. ☺

Fall Stuff

Some weekend mid-October we trekked all the way out to Stocker Farms to conquer the corn maze and give their haunted house a try.
I think this was the first time it hit us that it was starting to get cold out. We weren't dressed warm enough for the weather, but luckily Rob had a few extra sweatshirts and pairs of gloves in the car!
We got there too late to hit their pumpkin patch, but were not much for pumpkin carving anyways. With an hour or so of daylight left we took on the corn maze. They offered us a map as we beginning, but we passed and entered the maze with nothing but our superior navigating skills.
There were all these CornText check points throughout the maze, but we didn't give in. We were certain we'd make our way through without any help.
Turns out we sorta suck. We ended up coming back out of the maze without any problems...only we came back out the entrance, not the exit. So technically we didn't do the whole maze, but I thought we did pretty good.
The haunted house was awesome! It wasn't really scary, but there were definitely some parts where I was startled. We met some fun people in line and went through it with them, which made it even more entertaining.
On the way home we tried to ignore the fact that our shoes and pants were all muddy and stopped PF Chang's for dinner. I think we got a weird look or two, but pretended not to notice!
I think we can scratch corn mazes and haunted houses off our list for a few years.

Bad

Apparently someone {ahem, Jackson} thought that since he was bored and home alone all day it would be a good idea to grab all the mail off of the coffee table and strew it all about...and then rip some of it up.

After an hour in time out {yeah, we're lame and put our dog in time out} and a day full of no treats, I hope think he'll steer clear of the mail next time he's bored. Hmmm, if only I could teach him how to dust or something.

Oh, and the bill for my student loan payment? My dog ate it, sorry.

It's hip to be a square

Last Saturday we found ourselves wandering through what is normally a beautiful park along the Seattle waterfront. I say normally because this trip it was a little less than lovely. Seattle Hempfest had taken over the park and it was pure chaos, but in the most laid back of ways, of course.
We been to Hempfest once before, you know - just to say we'd gone, but apparently we've turned into complete squares since then. It was really crowded and super smelly (I got a wee bit nauseous and Rob was feeling a tad 'affected' by the surrounding odor) just by walking through the park.
The place was covered in garbage and there was an abundance of parents who thought it a good idea to bring their children. Way to go! It was a good place to people watch though...always a plus.

We snapped a few pictures, did a little bit of walking around/shoving our way through the park, dared to buy and drink some bottled water and then made a beeline back to the safety of our neck of the woods. I can confidently say we've been Hempfest-ed out. For good.

Picture overload

I've been trying to sort through the thousands (literally!) of pictures (some good shots, some garbage shots) we took while on vacation to post here and it's just overwhelming!
I thought breaking it down into smaller posts would be best...so hopefully I will get together a handful or two of pictures for each place we visited.
Stay tuned. I know you are all just dying of the suspense...right?? ☺

Half way holiday cheer

I haven't given my all when it comes to the Christmas season this year.
Since we are out of town for much of the month, I didn't feel like going through the hassle of putting up a tree, so I 'borrowed' this little tree from the storage room at work and set it up in the kitchen at home.
Yes, this is the extent of our holiday decorating.

On a whim I picked up some pre-cut sugar cookie dough while at Target yesterday and baked them up. It was only later that I realized the only frosting we had was orange Halloween frosting.

So there...part Christmas, part Halloween. Hey, I tried.
I hope my Christmas spirit amps up as the month passes on! I might even get around to sending out Christmas cards.
Maybe. ☺

We're Melting

It is hot up here.
Like 100* hot.
I know this doesn't sound that bad to a lot of you, but up here in the Pacific Northwest central air or even air conditioning isn't standard for most residences. So yes, it is stinking HOT!!
Last night as Rob and I laid on the floor downstairs with three fans blowing on us we realized we'd be much better off to
a.) be sitting in a cool movie theater
b.) drive around in the car with the air on high
c.) be anywhere but where we were

Since we've seen nearly every movie in the theaters we decided it best to put on our shorts and tanks and head over to Alki Beach.

It was SO much cooler by the water! We took a nice stroll and then had an amazing dinner at Cactus. It used to be a grocery store that was recently transformed into this funky Tex Mex restaurant.

We had a great table *bonus point* that gave us a perfect view of the beach *another bonus point*. Since it was our first time there they gave us some yummy appetizers on the house *that deserves two more bonus points* and the dinner was delish *yep, another bonus point*, so all in all, looks like Cactus has made it was into our regular rotation of restaurants.

We decided to head back home around 9:30, certain that our place would have cooled down to a much more tolerable temperature by then. We walked in the door and felt like we were hit by a heatwave. Ugh!

I've already decided that I will be putting in some time at the mall and then catching a movie after work today so that I don't have to endure any more time that necessary at our residence, which appears to have relocated to the Sun.

Don't believe everything you read

I've been sick the past few days and thought I would be proactive and change the sheets/pillowcases so as not to pass my icky germs onto Rob.
As I was changing the pillowcases yesterday I noticed that the pillows were machine washable. I always knew there were tags on pillows, I just never took the time to read them. I usually just toss out bed pillows when they have done their time and then purchase new ones. I probably should have done the same with these ones, but I thought I would do a little extra work to make sure that my pillows were germ free.

I read the instructions and followed them to the letter. I'd started the washing machine and headed downstairs. A few minutes later I heard drip - drip - drip and looked up to see the ceiling leaking. I put something under the drip to catch the water and ran upstairs in a panic to see that the washing machine had flooded all over the floor! I turned it off and took off back downstairs to attend to the drips...only to find the ceiling dripping in three more places!!
Luckily Rob got home soon after that and took over for me. Turns out that even though the instructions say that washing two pillows at the same time in a full size washer is acceptable, it really isn't. I think it's safe to say I won't be buying anymore Laura Ashley pillows...those liars. :)

Under Construction

So I had this brilliant idea to redo our blog, but the task seems to be a little more than I can figure out on my own! It will be looking quite the mess for a bit, but patience...it will be all pretty in the end.
