What I learned over the weekend – Vancouver, BC edition

~I love being surprised with last minute weekend getaways.
~I really love the guy who so frequently surprises me with these little trips.
~Hotels.com idea of four stars differs a little from ours.
~At a glance, hotel conditioner and lotion can easily be confused with one another.
~Once applied to the hair, the difference between lotion and conditioner is extremely apparent.
~My camera phone takes crap pictures...as you can see.
~Rob has a playlist on his iPod hilariously titled Party Jams.
~Not a single jam on this playlist is party-like, in any way.
~Vince Vaughn and Kevin James are both funny men, but together a not-so-funny movie they make.
~Canadian Mountain Dew contains NO caffeine.

It's a growin'!

My hair is now officially long enough to be put into a halfway decent looking ponytail.
BIG day for me, I tell ya.
Rob's been missing my long hair ever since I gave it the big chop. I think he's happier about the ponytail than I am.
I guess it doesn't take much to make us happy! ☺

This week...

My mane got a big chop last night. It makes me a little sad.
My bangs look like they were cut by a right-y kindergartner...with left-y scissors. I am trying to make do. :)
All I keep hearing from people is 'they will grow out soon'.
Thanks.

Oh, and I got walked in on by my boss while taking pictures of my new do.  He laughed at me.  Charming guy he is. :)
On a more positive note...we are heading off to Sin City this weekend to meet up with some friends and family and we are so stinkin' excited!!
Nothing big on the agenda so far...we're crashing at Caesar's and plan to take advantage of the pool.
I am hoping to convince Rob to take me to Phantom, but I am not holding my breath. Apparently, if you've seen it once, there is no reason to go again. I think that's debatable.
Oh, and a Happy Birthday to my bestie (and new neighbor!!!) who turns twenty-something tomorrow!!

A little of this and a little of that...

Chopped a bunch of my hair off. Still not sure if it's a like or hate thing yet...more time needed to decide.
Sunglasses in (blurry camera phone) picture = I still haven't put my makeup on yet. That's right, I put my make up on at work.
It's here at last! Harry Potter is today, and yes...I am still going by myself because I am a loser awesome. Don't hate.
We're hopping a flight down to Utah tonight for a family camping extravaganza. It should be exciting. Stay tuned...

Back to red, for now...

Brunette to Redhead Part II seems to have been a success. It's not the exact color that I had in the pre-brown days, but it's close enough. Before the official dyeing took place told myself that the color might not match 100%, but as long as it was a little darker vs. lighter I would be okay. I was secretly hoping to come out with one of the colors below. Nice, right? No such luck...I am more of a bright red.

When I got home the first thing Rob said...'Well, it sure isn't brown.' Sweet, I know! For someone who never wanted me to dye my hair brown in the first place, he sure got attached to it. I happen to like the brown color better as well, I just don't enjoy spending all of that time (and $$!!) getting it done. So, I am red for now, but don't be surprised if I go brown sooner than later. :)

Illegally Blonde

On my recent journey from a brunette back to a red head I hit a major roadblock. It all started yesterday morning at 9 AM. The first step in my transformation was to bleach, yes, I said bleach the entirety of my tresses. Since my hair was so dark, the process took two applications and several hours. After the bleach came the color - yay! This also took hours. Apparently my hair is a little bit stubborn. When the colorist was happy with the hue of my hair she washed the dye out and began blow drying. I was so excited to see my red hair again!! It has been so long since I have had red hair, I hardly remembered what I looked like with it. But as she continued blowing out my hair, the color I was seeing was anything but familiar. I know my memory couldn't be that bad...my hair had never been this color. The color I am referring to...BLONDE. Immediately my smile turned into a frown, and she tried to convince me that it was a lovely shade of strawberry blonde. Um, no...it is just blonde, no strawberry in sight! My stubborn hair just didn't take to the color as she thought it would. By this time the salon had already been closed for 90 minutes, so there was nothing further she could do for me yesterday. My eyes are pricking up with tears as I am reliving this.
The kicker of this is the salon cannot fit me in to fix it until Tuesday afternoon! I have to walk around looking like a blonde wannabe faker until then. Although, I have hid out at home ever since the incident. I am tempted to buy a box of red hair dye from the store a fix it myself. I know this would probably only create more problems for my hair, so I am showing restraint...so far. As soon as Rob saw my hair he expressed his disinterest in it, but now says that the color has grown on him. I think he is just trying to make me feel better. I am going through my scarves and hats and trying to pull together a decent, but not overly obvious look to disguise the mess. No winners as of yet. I could sport a ski mask...

A change is gonna come (but I need help)

OK, I clearly cannot be left alone! The second that Rob left for class tonight I got bored and dyed my hair back brown. And of course, it looks nothing near the salon-like color Clairol promised! This morning I called my salon to make an appointment to have my bad hair cut fixed and decided to schedule a color as well (I have been thinking of going back to brown for a month or so), but I just couldn't wait for my appointment. So here is my new crappy cut with my homecolored hair. Please excuse my sunglasses, I had already washed my make up off and I was feeling too lazy to put it back on. I am also too big of a chicken to post a make up free picture.

Now I just need to decide on how to cut my hair. Over the past few years I have had a number of short hair looks. Which one should I go back to? Pardon the fuzziness of the shots. I pulled some pictures out of a photo album and scanned them rather than dig through all of my photo back up discs for clearer pictures. Also, please ignore my goofy grins and poses...just focus on the hair. And, no the first one isn't a mug shot! It is my driver's license :)

Which style should I go back to?

Oh no...big mistake!!

Over the last few weeks, or maybe months I have been contemplating what to do with my hair. But usually I just think about it and talk about it and whine about it. I certainly never do anything about it. I don't know exactly what it was that got into me this morning, but something prompted me to call my favorite hair salon and see if they had an opening for an afternoon haircut. Maybe I had low blood sugar?? Since they never do have appointments open at the last minute, I expected to be turned down. But what do you know, they did have an opening! After I hung up I was hit with a huge wave of 'oh crap, what am I going to do?!?' and immediately hit redial to cancel the appointment. But before they picked up I chickened out on chickening out and hung up. How stupid would I sound cancelling an appointment that I had just made! I had 2 hours to put together a plan, which of course, I didn't. I just showed up there with no idea as to what I wanted to do. I am sure that they (I am not exactly sure what their titles actually are...stylist, barbers, hair cutters...so I will just stick with 'they') find that completely annoying. I managed to spit out a halfway decent description as to what I wanted and she, scissors in hand, was off! Her hair looked really cute, so I assumed that she would do something really cute with my hair. I didn't have her blow it out and style it before I left, which I know now is a big no-no. I thought it felt great wet, so I was sure it would be good dry too. Not so much! I got home and played around with it and with tears in my eyes, tried to make it look somewhat like what I thought the stylist/barber/hair cutter had in mind. I still haven't worked myself up to actually taking a picture of my new do to post. Maybe sometime this weekend after the swelling in my teary eyes goes down I will be ready to share my big mistake with the world. Any by the world, I really mean the small handful of you who might read this. I have got to use you all as a buffer before I have to show it off at work on Monday. Or maybe I could call in sick. That makes me sound pathetic, never mind...I didn't really mean it! Stay tuned...
