...pardon the interruption...

After Blogger's breakdown last week, I was waiting for them to fix the cruise posts/comments that had already been written before I continued on, but I think this is as good as it's going to get.

If I wait any longer I will forget all the details...or what details I still remember. ☺

Good in the bad

Me and my bad teeth were lucky enough to have a surprise but necessary visit to an oral surgeon or two.
While it's easier for me to sit home in pain, being ornery and looking swollen, I decided that there are actually a good thing or two that come from the experience...
  • I have awesome insurance that paid for all the visits
  • I get to (or is it have to??) eat ice cream for breakfast, lunch and dinner for the next day or two.
  • Since I'm 'sick' the calories from the ice cream don't count, right?
  • I have a job that is flexible and allows me to work from home
  • I now have time to watch the last five episodes of Grey's Anatomy that my DVR has been saving for me
  • Percocet!

So,the silver lining is turning out to be pretty nice. Back to the couch and my scoop of ice cream!

09.09.09

In honor of today's date, 09.09.09, I thought it would be fun for us to go and see the movie 9, but Rob said 'Nein'. Bummer.

Instead I downloaded from iTunes and started watching Season 3 of Ugly Betty while Rob entertained the dog...or vice versa. Yep, we're super cool.
Happy 09.09.09!
P.S. Did anyone actually see the movie? Was it any good?

The Retainer

Since I didn't have the self discipline necessary to wear my Invisilign at night, a couple of my teeth have shifted a bit. Bummer, I know! So I visited my Orthodontist, got a little lecture, some molds taken and was told that a wire retainer would be my next step. This is what I thought he meant by a wire retainer.

Boy, was I wrong! I went to pick it up only to find out that it is one of those old school retainers that take up your entire mouth and have the wire on the outside of your teeth! As if this isn't bad enough, it is pink with sparkles!! Why they did this is beyond me. If I would have had the choice, pink is definitely not the way I would go. Green maybe, but never pink.

Plus I got a sparkly purple case to keep it in. Cool huh...if I were eleven, and even that would be pushing it. Honestly, I think I would prefer to have my braces back on. I'm a whiner, I know.

So this is what a heart attack feels like

Last night I had the most vivid, life-like dream, ever. I dreamt that I was part of 'company cutbacks' and found myself without a job.

Now I am a little bit paranoid. Let's hope that this dream doesn't become my reality!

Mysterious disappearance

In response to all of the emails I have been receiving lately: No, I have not fallen off the face of the earth. I am still around, but I have lost my mojo...blog mojo that is. Work, school, sick, lazy- you name it, I got it and it's all keeping me from blogging. I am trying to get back on the horse, but it may be gradual. Stay tuned... :)

Sad Friday

I arrived at work this morning to see that my little office mate had gone to the great beyond. So sad. R.I.P. little buddy. :(

Holiday Round Up

My little holiday trip to Utah was fun. I stuck to my usual Utah itinerary...went to a ton of movies (five, actually: Yes Man, Doubt, Seven Pounds, Four Christmases and Twilight...again ), played with nieces and nephews, did a little shopping, and just hung out. Oh, and got scarf-jacked at the airport. Super sad about that still. :( Ironically there was no family game night to be had...maybe next time! And after making a big fuss about finding my camera to take along with me, I didn't end up taking any pictures but we did have a family portrait taken (our first one in over five years!).
I eagerly returned home to Rob with some lovely memories, a great new scarf and a wicked cold. Me, being the incredibly festive person I am, filled up on cold medicine and zonked out at 9:00 PM on New Year's Eve then woke up early this morning to take Rob and his brother to the airport for a quickie boys trip to Vegas. Now that I have the house to myself I have comfortably donned my PJ's all day while watching back issues of Lipstick Jungle, painting my nails, snacking on turkey bacon (my favorite, but the smell drives Rob crazy, so I try not to cook it when he is around...considerate, huh.) and trying to summon up some energy to do laundry or something. No luck on the last one yet, maybe tomorrow.
Today is also my Mum's birthday, so here's a little Happy BD for you Mom...hope your day is fantastic! Hope everyone had a great New Years!

Cabin Fever to the extreme

There has been a huge dumping of snow in the Pacific Northwest...this is quite the rarity for us. Because of this Rob and I have been working from home since Thursday. I have been going crazy! There is an entire list of things I need to do and places I need to go before heading home for the holidays. I am scheduled to leave tomorrow night and still have a huge list of things to do. It looks like I may have to venture out onto the icy roads for a little while tomorrow. I mentioned my cabin fever to Rob and he suggested we watch The Shining in order to gain a little perspective. He thinks he's funny!! :)

Here is an upstairs window shot of the whiteness that has taken over our lives. However, I will say that this is a really pretty sight at night though.

It has finally come to this...

Even though I am really bummed about it, we are leaning towards making our blog private within the next little while. So if you want to keep viewing it please leave us your email address in the comments. If you don't want to post your email address, just shoot us an email at robnwin@gmail.com and we will send you out an invite.
This invite is really open to anyone who reads our blog, whether we know you are reading or not. So yes, even if you are a lurker you can still keep lurking, just not as anonymously! We just want a little more control over who we are sharing things with. :)

So much for the 100th post

For our 100th post I (with some help from Rob) spent an entire week compiling the traditional 100th post list of unique things about us to share with you all. After I finally finished the list and was reading it back to Rob for his official OK he decided that the information was too personal and he didn't want to post it on our blog. Needless to say, I was less than thrilled with his decision, but fine...I won't post it. But now you all know who the wet blanket of the couple is. :)

As I began typing this up he said that I shouldn't post on our blog when I am angry. Good point, but I decided to do it anyways!
I am such a grump.

Quite the tragedy

My beloved laptop has given up on me. I step away for a couple hours and when I come back her wireless ability is non-existent. An hour and forty seven minutes on the phone with tech support left me with only two choices: mark her DNR and buy another one or send her in for an attempted revival. Me, being the sentimental person I am have decided to ship her off to some strange land for repair and I won't get her back for weeks. She probably won't even recognize me when she returns. Bummer!

I. Am. Heartbroken.

I just read terrible news. ABC is cancelling my new favorite show, Dirty Sexy Money. Such a letdown. I am officially bummed. I hope they change their mind. Doubtful, right?

Watch it online while it's still here.

Casual Friday...to the extreme

I woke up this AM with a cold...I don't feel good!! I didn't want to go to work, but figured I am up anyways, I will go for awhile. I had been freezing all morning, so I pushed past the stacks of capri's in my closet in search of some long pants. There was a lonely pair cast off on the end of the shelf, so I grabbed them, wondering why they were all on their own. Then I remembered that these were the most comfortable casual jeans ever...perfect for feeling crappy at work. Yes! I will wear them today...it's Friday anyways. So once I get to work I realize that they are a little too baggy and I am feeling slightly sloppy. I chalk it up to casual Friday and plan to stay seated in my office so no one will see me. A few hours into work, I take a big lean back in my chair and notice that something feels different in my pants area. It then all comes rushing back to me...I remember why these jeans were cast off into the corner of my closet shelf...oh no!!!

Yep, I am sporting jeans with a big hole in the butt! Feeling slightly mortified, I dash off to the bathroom to see how bad it is. After glancing at myself in the mirror I tell myself that it isn't that bad. It matched the distressed wash of the jeans, right? So, I run/walk back to my office to grab my phone so that I can take a picture. It took about 14 tries to get the right picture. I opted for a close, close, close up because I am not brave enough to post a picture of my entire bum online. Coward!!
As if my day wasn't dumpy enough, a co-worker walked in on me taking a shot of said hole. Weird, right? I kind of explained to her what I was doing and she laughed at me. What else had I expected? Whatever...I knew I should not have come to work today...I am going home.

Back to school, kind of

Yesterday was my first day back at school. I decided to take Summer quarter off because I had a lot of stuff going on and couldn't fit school in on top of it. Plus, they didn't offer the classes I really need during the summer. So yesterday I arrived up early to pick up my books, which after waiting in line forever I am told that they don't have and to try back tomorrow...great! I still had a little bit before class started so I went back to my car to listen to the book on CD Confessions of a Shopoholic (it's an OK read/listen). A few minutes before class starts I take off to find my lab room. I only have one class on Monday evenings...Chemistry. When I locate the correct room, there is a guy hanging a sign on the door that says there is no lab tonight, regular schedule resumes tomorrow. What?!? It's great that there is no class, but I'm irked that I had been waiting around for it forever...blah! So I headed home to watch the end of the Will and Grace DVDs that I got from Netflix. I will try the school thing again tonight...

Let's get *flashy* (like a camera flash...get it?)

I decided to add some pictures of us to our page and set out on a mission to find some. Sadly, I found very few. In the nearly decade (okay, that is a slight exaggeration, but we are almost there if you round up :) )that we have been together we have maybe two dozen pictures of ourselves together and only a third of them are actually decent. We do a lot of those ones where we pose together and then reach out our arm to take the picture ourself. This usually results in a picture with the inside halves of both of our faces...certainly nothing frame worthy. It doesn't really help that neither of us is particularly photogenic. Our initial reaction when a camera is within 10 feet of us is to sheild our faces...no wonder we don't have any pictures together! As I looked throught the gazillions of vacation pictures that we have taken over the years, they are all of things other than the two of us. Out of the three times that we have been to San Diego, there are about six pictures of Rob on an aircraft carrier...all on the same trip and none of myself! This means that the other two times we snapped about 100 pictures of animals from the zoo!?! Ridiculous! So, I have decided that we are going to make a point to take more pictures of ourselves, especially together. I think that it will make a much stronger memory versus looking back over vacation pictures that are just full of scenery. Now I just have to get Rob on board with me!
